Toward Data-Driven Digital Therapeutics Analytics: Literature Review and Research Directions

With the advent of digital therapeutics (DTx), development software as a medical device (SaMD) for mobile and wearable devices has gained significant attention in recent years. Existing DTx evaluations, such randomized clinical trials, mostly focus on verifying effectiveness products. To acquire deeper understanding engagement behavioral adherence, beyond efficacy, large amount contextual interaction data from during field deployment would be required analysis. In this work, overall flow data-driven analytics is reviewed to help researchers practitioners explore datasets, investigate patterns associated with usage, establish (causal) relationship between adherence. This review key components provides novel research directions analysis sensor which helps iteratively improve receptivity existing DTx.
